Safety Action Series

The Council on Patient Safety in Women’s Health Care is pleased to sponsor and convene the Safety Action Series. The Series is comprised of free teleconferences on various topics relevant to promoting a culture of safety in women’s health care. The series is designed to be interactive and collaborative, with ample time allotted during each session for audience participation.

An Interdisciplinary Look at Obstetric Care for Women with Opioid Use Disorder

February 11 from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST

Objectives:

  • Discuss treating Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) through the lens of obstetric care and behavioral health
  • Identify effective screening tools to detect drug use
  • Review prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum clinical pathways for women with OUD
  • Examine safe pain control protocols that account for increased pain sensitivity and avoidance of mixed agonist-antagonist opioid analgesics, referenced in the Obstetric Care for Women with Opioid Use Disorder Bundle
